Laurette Lafleur Marquis

Laurette Lafleur Marquis, 84, a lifelong resident of the Hudson and Nashua, NH area, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2017 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA after a period of declining health. She was born in Hudson on July 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Alfred and Loretta (Rousseau) Lafleur. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Villa Augustina Academy in Goffstown, NH in the class of 1951. She continued onto Rivier University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was the wife of the late Conrad Paul Marquis with whom she shared 22 years of marriage.

Before her marriage to Conrad, she taught English at the Spring Street Junior High School from 1957 to 1960. They made their home in Yonkers, NY for three years, during which time she worked for a photographer and also a contest judge for the Reuben H. Connolly Corp. They moved back to Nashua, NH for three years and finally made their home in Hudson, NH in 1967. She then worked part time for almost 25 years at Fairview Nursing Home until she retired in 1991. She enjoyed dabbling in antiques for years, buying and selling. She derived pleasure in jigsaw and crossword puzzles and loved playing bridge.

She respectfully leaves her beloved son, Gregory John Marquis of Hudson; her sister, Phyllis Sylvia Barbour and her husband Kenneth; her grandchildren, Katherine Barry, Glen Rochussen and Douglas Carter.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Saint John XXIII Parish at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 25 Library Street in Hudson. Family and friends are invited to attend. The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua has been placed in charge of arrangements.
