Dorothy E. Trow

Dorothy E. Trow, 90, a resident of Mont Vernon, NH since 1962, died on July 11, 2016, from complications of a broken hip and pneumonia at Crestwood Healthcare, Milford, NH.

She was born in Amherst, NH on December 15, 1925, a daughter of Levi and Emma (Ingerson) Hartshorn. Mrs. Trow was a lifelong resident of Amherst and Mont Vernon. She graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1942, and was a Kaley prize speaking finalist.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed with the former Norton Company of Milford. In addition, she also worked part time at the former Milford A & P and P & C Grocery Stores.

Dorothy lived the life she grew up with, hard work and total devotion to her family. She loved growing and raising livestock, especially chickens, starting her own poultry business while still in high school. She thrived on raising and preserving vegetables and fruits from the farm just as her mother had taught her.

An avid reader, she was an accomplished knitter and crocheter and made beautiful afghans for family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Perley E. Trow; two brothers, George and Frank; two sisters, Jessie Mullen and Evelyn Annis.

Dorothy leaves behind her devoted Scotty Terrier, Heidi; a son, Thomas W. Trow of Mont Vernon, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Erma and Fred Metallic of Nashua, NH; three grandchildren, Pam Trow that she raised as a daughter, Valarie Auglave and Debbi Metallic all of Nashua; and six great-grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 15th at 3:00 p.m., in Green Lawn Cemetery, North Main Street, Mont Vernon NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Share Outreach, Inc., One Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055.
