John ‘Vic’ Zibolis
John "Vic" Zibolis, 88, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4 at Bel Air Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. Born in Nashua on November 22, 1927, he was the son of the late John and Urshula (Margis) Zibolis, who emigrated to Nashua from Lithuania in the early 1900s.
He is survived by his loving wife, Irene (LeBlanc) Zibolis; three sons, Glen Zibolis and wife, Beth Leconte of Peace Dale, RI, John Zibolis of Candia, NH, and Michael Zibolis and his wife, Laurie of Milford, NH; two grandsons, Abraham Zibolis and his significant other, Tina Wilson of Merrimack, NH, Chad Zibolis and his wife Caitlin of Milford, NH; and Alexis Zibolis and her significant other, Michael McBride, of Belleview, WA. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Mya, Dakota, Logan and Jameson; two nieces, Sandra Caron and Kathy Zibolis; and five nephews, Charles Howard, Dennis Zibolis, Kenneth Zibolis, David Zibolis and Kevin Zibolis.
During his formative years before the War, he lived on the family farm which was situated on the side of a hill in South Nashua off of Middle Dunstable Road. The farm offered what may be the most scenic vista in Nashua, offering an unobstructed view of the Monadnocks to the west. The farm has long ago vanished and is now the location of Sky Meadow Golf Course and Condominiums.
Vic was a longtime and well known Nashua barber in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, until he moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1982, where he continued working as a barber as recently as 2012.
That year, he finally decided to retire and return to Nashua to be closer to his family.
Vic was passionate about his profession, and loved being a master at his craft. Because he also loved golf, he would often boast as living "in paradise" (Florida), because he was able to both work and play all year long.
Vic was a proud World War II and Korean War Navy Veteran. While in the Navy, he served on the destroyer USS Eaton, and the aircraft carrier, USS Kearsage.
A private graveside ceremony for close family will be held at a yet to be determined date.
Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
The family has requested that donations be made in his memory to Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054. www.hhhc.org.
