Deacon Richard Cloutier died at Kent Village at the Huntington at Nashua on Thursday, March 24, 2016 after a period of declining health. Dick was born in Marlboro, MA on November 15, 1937. His parents were Alfred and Venita Cloutier, now deceased, also of Marlboro, MA. He is survived by Anne, his loving wife of 56 years, two children, Michelle Cloutier of Tampa, FL and Timothy Cloutier and his wife Alison, of Manchester, NH, and one grandchild, Patrick James Cloutier of Manchester, NH.

Dick was educated at St. Anthony’s Elementary School, Marlboro, MA and St. John’s High School, Worcester, MA. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA in 1960 and received a Masters Degree in International Relations from Creighton University, Omaha, NE in 1974.

For the past 10 years, Dick has resided at The Huntington at Nashua. Dick was also active in the theater group and loved playing Santa Claus for the residents each Christmas.

Dick was a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church since his ordination in May 1980. He served as Deacon at St. John Neumann Catholic Community for 25 years. While serving the people of this community, and in the absence of an assigned Pastor, Dick was responsible for the administration of all aspects of Parish activities: pastoral, financial, educational, social, etc. He and his wife Anne designed a program of instruction and trained Bereavement Teams for Saint John Neumann and for other Nashua Deanery Parishes. Dick was well known for his poignant homilies and his pastoral approach to ministry, as evidenced by his being selected to receive the Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Award in June 2005. He always preached and practiced a "theology of the heart."

Prior to coming to New Hampshire, Dick completed twenty years military service and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel in U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, Dick served as Director of Program Management and Systems Technology, at the Air Force Computer Acquisition Center. He also served as a member of the Joint Strategic Targeting and Planning Staff, Omaha NE. Dick received the Bronze Star for his service in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, where he served as Director of Technical Operations and Engineering, Task Force Alpha.

After retirement from the Air Force, Dick worked for Sanders Associates, Lockheed Sanders, and BAE, where he was the Manager of the Software Engineering Process Group.

He was an avid hockey fan, and was a charter member season ticket holder of Manchester Monarchs and also attended many Boston Bruins games. Dick was also a Red Sox fan and attended a season high of 12 games in 2001 with his son Tim. He loved to walk the local woods and seashore and bird watch. For the past 45 years, he frequented the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME with his wife Anne. They celebrated their 50th anniversary with family and friends on the Marginal Way in Ogunquit in June 2010.
