Gladys L. Hayes

Gladys L. (Lipnicki) Hayes, 80, a longtime resident of Pelham, died peacefully on Thursday, December 24th at home with her daughter by her side. She was the wife of the late Clifton E. Hayes who passed away on September 26, 2013.

Born in Springfield, VT on June 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Louis and the late Sophie (Michalkiewich) Lipnicki. Gladys was a graduate of Springfield High School in Vermont, and, before retiring, was employed with Nashua Eye Associates as a Medical Records Supervisor.

Gladys was an avid baker and talented hostess, constantly impressing with her elaborate cakes and delicious treats. She enjoyed curating beautiful gardens and spending time at the family’s house on Pawtuckaway Lake. Above all, however, family and friends were Gladys’ greatest source of happiness. Her outgoing nature and gracious demeanor always found her a friend in the crowd, and days spent at "Mum" or "Grammie’s" house were undoubtedly counted among the best. Simply put, when you were around Gladys, you felt at home.

Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Susan Hayes of Pelham and Jessica Paulsen and her husband Lon of Nashua; a son, Christopher Hayes, of Mamaroneck, NY; six grandchildren, Meredith, Nicholas, Benjamin, Ethan, Brendan and Olivia; her sister and several nieces and nephews.
