Manchester mayor pays for inauguration
MANCHESTER (AP) – The new mayor of Manchester is the first in at least two decades to pick up the tab for his inauguration.
The New Hampshire Union Leader reports that Mayor Ted Gatsas spent about $11,000 on his inauguration last month, including about $3,400 for photographs and $3,800 to cover expenses for the city clerk’s office.
Gatsas, a Republican who also turned his inaugural ball into a fundraiser for city charities, said he didn’t think it was right to have taxpayers pay for flowers, invitations and other items.
