Man gets 10-20 years for shooting friend
BRENTWOOD (AP) — A man who shot a friend in the back of the head as they sat in a parked SUV is going to prison for manslaughter.
Twenty-year-old Adam Mentus, of Danville, was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison Monday for the 2008 slaying of Deidre Budzyna. The 20-year-old Atkinson woman, who was sitting in the driver’s seat when it happened, died June 26, 2008 in Sandown.
Mentus’ lawyers claimed the shooting was an accident caused by a cheap .380-caliber handgun.
The Eagle Tribune reports that Mentus, who was convicted in October, will serve his sentence in New Hampshire State Prison.
