NH mom found passed out near day care

MANCHESTER (AP) – Police say a New Hampshire woman who had picked up her two children from a day-care center was found drunk, passed out in a snowbank near the center while her children were in the car with the door open.

Police said 37-year-old Kathleen Butts, of Auburn, picked up her children, ages 2 and 4, from the Alpha Bits Daycare at 5:15 p.m. Thursday. A maintenance worker arriving at the Manchester center at 7 p.m. noticed her in the snowbank and the car door open. The car was not running.

The children were released to family members and Butts was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.
