WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman charged with stealing $225,000 from the Boy Scouts has been released on personal recognizance.
Cheryl Allen of Millbury pleaded not guilty on Monday at her arraignment in Worcester Superior Court on larceny charges. She was ordered by a judge not to leave the state and to check in twice a week with a probation officer.
Prosecutors say the 44-year-old Allen worked for a company hired to perform bookkeeping services for the Mohegan Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the organization’s governing body in central Massachusetts.
Authorities say that between December 2006 and March, Allen forged Boy Scout checks to a business with which she was affiliated.
Allen refused comment outside the court.
