DOVER (AP) - Jurors will begin a second day of deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of a 31-year-old man prosecutors say raped and killed a University of New Hampshire student in 2012.

The panel of seven women and five men will return to the jury room Friday morning after spending Thursday afternoon deliberating the fate of Seth Mazzaglia (muh-ZAYL'-ee-uh) of Dover. Beside murder, he is charged with other felonies in the Oct. 9, 2012 death of 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott of Westborough, Massachusetts.

The verdicts hinge on whether the jurors believe his former girlfriend, 20-year-old Kathryn McDonough, who testified for 10 days, saying Mazzaglia choked Marriott then raped her after she rejected his sexual advances. He did not testify during the trial.

Mazzaglia has said Marriott died during consensual rough sex.
