NH jobless rate stays at 4.4%, compared to national average of 6.3%

The unemployment rate for New Hampshire was 4.4 percent in May, the same figure as the month before, but a sharp drop from a year earlier.

The jobless rate in May 2013 had been 5.2 percent.

The state jobless rate remains about 2 percentage points better than the national rate, which was 6.3 percent in May.

The state estimated that the number of employed New Hampshire residents in May was 714,510, more than 10,000 better than the previous year.

The total labor force in May, including employed and unemployed people, was 747,300, an increase of 4,890 from the previous year.
