Biden vows to vanquish Trump

By Adam Urquhart - Staff Writer | Oct 10, 2019

MANCHESTER – Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden of Delaware made clear during his Wednesday campaign event in Manchester that the ballot box is sacred ground in America – while highlighting President Donald Trump’s invitations to foreign nations to investigate Biden.

“We believe Americans should decide American elections, period, but Trump will do anything to get re-elected, including violating the most basic elements of our democracy,” Biden told his supporters.

Whether it would involve Ukraine, Russia, China, or any other foreign power, Biden said he believes Trump should be impeached for requesting that other nations investigate political candidates. Currently, the U.S. House of Representatives is engaging in an impeachment inquiry.

As Trump calls for investigations into Biden and his son, Hunter, the former vice president said he is not distracted by this. Furthermore, he also reminded those in attendance of how Trump once suggested he could shoot someone in the middle of Manhattan and his supporters wouldn’t mind.

“It’s not a joke,” Biden said. “He is shooting holes as we speak in the United States Constitution, but we cannot let him get away with it.”

In terms, of gun violence sweeping the nation, Biden briefly acknowledged his agenda to get weapons of war off the streets of the nation and deal with the trauma that gun violence has inflicted on children.

“I promise you, I will get this reform done,” Biden said. “I’ve taken on the NRA (National Rifle Association) twice, and I’ve beaten them twice.”

While there are students facing fears of gun violence from state to state, Biden also cited his plan for those who are finished with school and struggling with the burden of student loan payments. He said under his plan, anyone who qualifies for community college will get to go for free. Moreover, he said if one chooses to enter public service such as Americorps, he said for every year they are involved, they will get to shave up to $50,000 off their student loan debt.

Additionally, despite a bit of disruption from climate protesters, Biden discussed his plans to combat climate change. He said his plan would ensure the country is on track for 100% clean energy and net-zero emissions.

Biden added the country cannot let Trump pick the Democratic nominee for president.

“We have to do more than just beat Donald Trump,” Biden said. “For future generations, we have to beat him like a drum.”
