Three area men face domestic violence charges

By Dean Shalhoup - Senior Staff Writer | Jul 15, 2019

MERRIMACK – Police arrested three men over the weekend on assault charges stemming from allegations of domestic violence.

In the first incident, Brian Sweetser, 52, and Devin Sweetser, 27, whose relationship police didn’t specify, were each charged with one count of simple assault – domestic violence by officers who responded around 1:30 p.m. Saturday to a local residence for “a reported domestic disturbance involving physical injury,” police said.

The charges are misdemeanors.

Police didn’t list the address of the residence, but said officers upon arrival conducted an investigation that determined the Sweetsers “allegedly assaulted one another after a heated argument.”

They said both men suffered physical injuries during the altercation, but didn’t indicate if either needed medical attention.

They were, however, arrested, and after booking at police headquarters were released on personal recognizance bail pending a July 23 appearance in Merrimack district court.

In the other incident, which police said occurred around 1:20 Sunday morning on Executive Park Drive, officers arrested Alan Pease, 23, of 39 Nesenkeag Drive, Litchfield, and charged him with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence.

Police said officers were called to Executive Park Drive near Amherst Road for reports of two men fighting, and upon arrival located Pease and another man they didn’t identify, but described as a family member.

Upon investigation, the officers determined Pease allegedly assaulted the other man during an altercation and charged him accordingly.

Pease was booked and later released on personal recognizance bail. He is also scheduled for a July 23 appearance in Merrimack district court, police said.
