Ready for sunshine: Insider’s take on high school trip

By Abbey Rowe - Nashua High School South senior | Feb 19, 2019

Editor’s Note: This is the first in a series of articles from Nashua High School South senior Abbey Rowe, who is reporting the adventures of nearly 70 local high school students on their trip to Hawaii.

NASHUA – Members of the classes of 2019 and 2020 of Nashua are going on an educational field trip to Hawaii. We will have a chance to learn about Pearl Harbor, Hawaiian customs and their way of life. We will also have a chance to relax on the beach, hike the volcanoes, and swim with the turtles. While we are doing this, you get to read how much fun and how much we’re learning every day in the newspaper.

Corita Chartier, a senior at Nashua High School South said, “I’m probably most excited for the hikes and to see all of the beautiful landscape.”

Drew Dunhom, another senior at Nashua High School South said, “I can’t wait to see all of the marine life. It’ll be cool to see animals that we don’t see in New England.”

This past year, we have had to do many assignments. I asked Drew and Corita how it has helped them learn about Hawaii.

Collectively, they said, “It has given us insight to Hawaiian culture. Learning about Hawaiian history is something we have never bothered doing, but we’re both happy we had the chance to study it before going there.”

During the course of these 10 days, all of us will be learning every minute. I am so happy I get the opportunity to share what we are learning with our hometown of Nashua.

Aloha!
