Sen. Morse supports loan approval for clean drinking water

CONCORD – Today, the Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund Advisory Commission approved a $5.5 million loan to Pennichuck Water Works to fund the construction of a deep-water intake in the Merrimack River, helping them to continue to provide clean drinking water to the Greater Merrimack. Following the loan approval, Senate Republican Leader Chuck Morse, R-Salem, chairman of the commission, issued the following statement:

“As the Greater Merrimack area has been hit particularly hard by water contamination issues, the approval of this loan is a critical step to ensure a reliable source of safe drinking water for years to come,” he said. “As PFCs and other emerging contaminants are appearing in more places across the state, this project will enhance a water source to provide capacity to address contamination issues in the future. It is important that we continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to provide clean water to every Granite Stater. Pennichuck has been a great partner in our efforts to help those impacted by water contamination and I am pleased that their application has been approved.”
