Rosenwald takes N.H. Senate seat, Avard leads

NASHUA – Preliminary results late Tuesday showed indicated Democrat Cindy Rosenwald would win the New Hampshire state Senate race to replace fellow Democrat Bette Lasky, who did not seek re-election.

District 11

In the race for the District 11 seat, preliminary results showed Democrat Shannon Chandley leading Republican incumbent Sen. Gary Daniels. As the projected winner, Chandley would represent the towns of Amherst, Merrimack, Milford and Wilton.

“I’m grateful to all the voters of Amherst, Milford, Merrimack and Wilton,” Chandley said, “I’m especially grateful to all the volunteers. I’ve had tremendous help from friends and family. This has been a long race, I’ve knocked on thousands of doors. I’m also grateful for Sen. Daniels’ service in the Senate.”

District 12

In the District 12 race, preliminary results showed incumbent Republican Kevin Avard leading Democratic candidate Melanie Levesque. As a projected winner, Avard would continue to represent Wards 1, 2, and 5 in Nashua, as well as the towns of Brookline, Mason, Greenville, New Ipswich, Rindge, and Hollis.

Neither candidate could be reached for comment very late Tuesday.

District 13

In District 13, preliminary results showed Rosenwald with a solid lead over Republican opponent David Schoneman. As the projected winner, Rosenwald will represent Wards 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Nashua.

“I’m really looking forward to representing District 13,” Rosenwald told The Telegraph late Tuesday. “I’m proud that I ran a positive campaign. I knocked on a lot of doors. I talked to a lot of voters the last several months.”

Schoneman could not be reached for a comment on the preliminary results.

District 14

In the District 14 race, preliminary results showed incumbent Republican Sen. Sharon Carson leading Democratic candidate Tammy Siekmann by a count of 12,815 to 9,410.

As the winner, Carson would continue to represent the towns of Hudson, Auburn and Londonderry, in his re-election win.
