Man arrested for leaving dog in car
MERRIMACK – A Massachusetts man was arrested Monday for leaving his dog in a vehicle that officers estimated had reached between 134 and 139 degrees.
Police in Merrimack responded to a call around 1:30 p.m. Monday to the Merrimack Premium Outlets for a complaint that a dog was left in a vehicle. Upon arrival, they noticed the dog in “obvious signs of distress.” Officers gained entry to the vehicle and took custody of the dog. The weather was hot and humid with temperatures around 90 degrees, police said.
Mark McNally, 22, of 34 Marblehead St., North Andover, Massachusetts, was charged with one count of “animals in a motor vehicle” and was released on a $500 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled for Monday arraignment at the Merrimack Ninth Circuit Court.
