Moving Wall coming to Souhegan High School

AMHERST – The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall is coming to Souhgean High School on Thursday and leaving on July 23. The half-sized replica of the Washington D.C. memorial to the 2.7 million men and women who served in Vietnam is inscribed with the names of the more than 58,000 soldiers who died there.

The visit was organized by Marie Grella of Amherst, with the support of the Milford Rotary Club. It will be open 24 hours a day, and volunteers will provide security and help visitors find names, which are in chronological order.

Here is the schedule for the Moving Wall, which will be set up in the field in front of Souhegan High School on Boston Post Road.

Thursday

8 a.m.: Wall arrives

8 a.m. to noon: Wall to be assembled by veterans and volunteers.

Noon: Open visitation begins.

1 p.m.: Welcoming ceremony

7:30 p.m.: Taps and night watch begins

Friday

Opening ceremony

5:30 p.m.: Amherst / Milford Chorus High School will present patriotic songs.

6 p.m.: Opening ceremony

7:30 p.m.: Taps and night watch begins.

Saturday

2 p.m.: Wreath laying , POW wreath laying ,Gold Star and Blue Star mothers and a presentation.

7:30 p.m.: Taps and night watch begins.

Sunday

3 p.m.: Closing ceremony

Veterans’ salute to all fallen on the Wall and from all wars.

Final Walk

7:30 p.m.: Taps and night watch starts
