Area man charged after allegedly punching person
MERRIMACK – A 23-year-old local man accused of punching a person and a door is scheduled for arraignment today in Merrimack District Court, police said.
Evan Lange, whose street address police didn’t provide, turned himself in on a warrant Wednesday, and after booking was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail.
The warrants charge Lange with two counts of simple assault-domestic violence, and one count of criminal mischief, all of which are Class A misdemeanors.
Police said the investigation that led to the issuance of the warrants began when officers were called to a local residence, which police didn’t identify, to check on a report of a domestic disturbance.
Both the suspect, later identified as Lange, and the alleged victim had left the residence by the time officers arrived, police said. However, they learned the alleged victim had gone to a nearby restaurant to await them.
The alleged victim, whose gender wasn’t listed, reportedly told police “she had been … punched in the head two times by Evan Lange,” according to police reports.
Lange also allegedly damaged a door in the residence, police learned.
Police subsequently issued the warrants, on which Lange turned himself in.
