Merrimack students visit elementary schools
MERRIMACK – Members of the Merrimack School District’s initial kindergarten class returned to their roots Friday afternoon for one last day of elementary school fun before graduating and heading to the next phases of their lives.
The graduating seniors split up and returned to their elementary schools to visit with old teachers, walk the halls, inspire the current students and, of course, play on the playground.
The 55 cap and gown-clad students who visited Reeds Ferry School walked through the halls to much fanfare, with the younger students holding banners and cheering them on. They smiled laughed, giving high-fives as their former teachers clapped for them, getting misty-eyed.
Whether visiting Mastricola Elementary, Reeds Ferry or Thorntons Ferry, the Tomahawks walked through their old schools, according to high school teacher Deborah Belanger, to inspiring the younger students “to keep their eye on the ultimate goal.”
