Thief stole more than $5K worth of leggings from Nashua retailer

NASHUA – A Manchester man is in trouble for allegedly stealing more than $5,000 worth of leggings from the Nashua Victoria’s Secret store.

Jorge Alvarado, 39, of 288 Hanover Court, Manchester, is indicted on three felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking for the alleged theft of more than 100 pairs of yoga pants-style leggings from the store.

According to police reports, Alvarado and a woman who has yet to be indicted entered the Daniel Webster Highway store, already carrying shopping bags. The store is inside the Pheasant Lane Mall, and it is not uncommon for people to carry in bags from other stores.

The couple went to the area where the leggings are kept, and witnesses say they ducked down and stuffed their bags with leggings. The couple hit the store three times, beginning in October of last year, each time when different staff was on duty, according to the police report.

Police were able to identify Alvarado

by matching the surveillance images taken by the store to his Facebook account. Alvarado has prior convictions for theft, according to

police.

He is charged with one Class A felony, and two Class B felonies. Class A carries a potential seven and a half to 15 years in prison if convicted, while Class B’s carry potential three and a half to seven years.
