Milford High School hosts leprechaun hunt

By ADAM URQUHART - Staff Writer | Feb 18, 2018

MILFORD – Milford High School’s National Honor Society is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by searching for a pot of gold and fun for the entire family.

Milford’s NHS is organizing its first ever Leprechaun Hunt fundraiser.

“It’s going to be a scavenger hunt to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day geared toward kids and their families, but anyone can join,” Parliamentarian of Milford’s NHS Kaitlynn Morgan said.

On Saturday, March 17, Keyes Memorial Field will be the starting point for the scavenger hunt, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon. A rain date is set for March 18.

Tickets for participation will be sold at the event for $10. Maps will be handed out to aid participants in their search for leprechauns that will be hidden throughout town.

“There are 10 locations where cutouts of leprechauns are hidden in public places within a mile of each other,” Morgan said.

Volunteers will be stationed at each leprechaun cutout location to hand out stickers to successful hunters. Prizes will be given to the first three people who complete the scavenger hunt.

“The event is raising money for the National Honors Society to give scholarships to students with good academic leadership and character, and the funds go back to make events like this happen in the future,” Morgan said.

There also will be a bake sale on site to raise extra funds.
