BROOKLINE – From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Richard Maghakian Memorial School’s gymnasium was transformed into an artisan fair in an attempt to raise sponsorship funds for Brookline’s 250th Anniversary Celebration in 2019.
Saturday’s fair was just one of many events that made up the Brookline Winter Festival, which concludes today.
Now in its second year, the Brookline Winter Festival committee added the artisan fair to help local artists and craftspeople gain exposure.
“We were trying to come up with more indoor activities and came up with this to showcase local craftspeople and artisans,” said Sylvia Mansfield, the executive director of Brookline’s after school program.

With close to 30 tables set up in the gym, the offerings included jewelry, books and even turkey
callers.
“It’s very eclectic going and looking around at everything from fine art to crafts,” Mansfield said.
Other activities throughout the weekend included a three-on-three hockey tournament, and over 21 Snow “Ball” Social.
From noon to 3 p.m. today, the Brookline Economic Development Committee is sponsoring the fourth annual Chili Chowder Cook Off at the Brookline Event Center. Proceeds from this event also will help sponsor next year’s 250th celebration.
