MERRIMACK – Police, as of Sunday night, were continuing their search for the suspect in a Saturday night stabbing that landed a Merrimack woman in the hospital with serious

injuries.

Police said officers were called to 3 Scott Drive, a cul-de-sac in a small neighborhood off Amherst Road , around 10 p.m. in response to a report a person had been stabbed.

The female victim, who wasn’t identified, was stabbed in the upper torso, police said. She had just returned home when she was confronted by an unknown male in her driveway, which is on the right side of the split-level home.

The man then fled, but police didn’t specify if he was on foot or got into a car. He was said to be wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket.

Emergency medical personnel called for a trauma team to be activated at Nashua’s Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, where they transported the victim after treating her at the scene.

Witnesses said police cordoned off the property with yellow tape, and officers and detectives could be seen searching the front yard and driveway areas, and coming and going from the house.

Police urge anyone with any additional information on the incident to contact the department at 424-3774 or call its Crime Line, 424-2424.
