Fire damages barn and truck

HOLLIS – Police and fire officials are investigating a barn fire Sunday night that engulfed the building and damaged a nearby pickup truck as well.

The fire at 103 Nartoff Road, also known as “Rickety Ranch,” a working farm and education site “for kids and run by kids,” according to its Facebook page, did not harm any animals, only farm equipment, officials said.

A guest at the farm noticed the blaze at about 7:20 p.m., fire officials said, and the Hollis Fire Department, Brookline Fire Department and Hollis Police Department all responded. The fire in the 20-by-40 foot barn was extinguished by 8 p.m.

Officer Jay Maloney from Hollis PD said the fire was “significant” and a cause has yet to be determined.
