Active shooter situation continues near Auburn Street
Nashua Police have issued a Code Red, and suggested residents “shelter in place,” near Auburn and Fletcher streets as an active shooter situation continues to unfold.
Early indications are that a person or persons are barricaded in an apartment near Auburn and Fletcher, just off Amherst Street near Holman Stadium. There is a heavy police presence, including the Nashua SWAT team, with law enforcement officials staged outside the residence and within the building. At about 4 p.m., law enforcement officials sent in a drone to help assess the situation. They also are utilizing the department’s K9 unit. The Manchester SWAT team arrived about 5:30 to provide support. About 6:30 several loud bangs could be heard coming from the residence.
The Nashua Police Department has requested residents stay away from the area at this time, officials said in a press release. Additional information will be forthcoming from the Uniform Field Operations Bureau, the press release added.
