Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua hosts Dinner of Thanks
NASHUA – On Thursday, Nov. 18, more than 300 club members, their families, staff and volunteers gathered at the Boys & Girls Club to share in a Dinner of Thanks prepared in-house by Jasmine Torres, manager of food services, and her junior staff team.
The event program began with an introduction from Stephen Larkin, one of the teens recently recognized as Youth of the Month. He shared his personal club experiences and expressed his thanks to all those who are helping him succeed. Chief Executive Officer Norman Bouthillette welcomed the guests and Michelle Gichura led the Invocation and Benediction. Musical entertainment by the Kids Clubhouse and Stahl Teen Center Band was enjoyed by all!
Throughout the event, guests were asked to live tweet what they were thankful for. Their posts were then projected onto the wall in full view of their friends, families and mentors, many of who were addressed in the posts. Some of the tweets that were sent out included:
"I am thankful for all the opportunities and experiences that the boys and girls club has given me so far @BGCGN #bgcgnthanks;"
"The family members that I am thankful for are everybody in my family- Member #bgcgnthanks;"
"I am thankful for a house to live in! #BGCGNthanks;"
"I am thankful for Friends and lots of pumpkin pie Chris 14 @BGCGN #bgcgnthanks;"
"The kind act that I am thankful for is protection from bullying -Member #bgcgnthanks."
Many people from the Boys and Girls Club and the Greater Nashua community helped make the Dinner of Thanks a success. Special thanks to club alumnus and Daniel Webster College hockey coach Eric McCambly and his team who volunteered their time setting up, serving turkey dinners to all those who were in attendance, and cleaning up following the event. Next year’s event will be held once again on the week before Thanksgiving.
