Blood drive honors Nashua boy

By Staff | Dec 15, 2016

NASHUA – The New Hampshire Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding a special blood drive in honor of 21-month-old Frankie Teas of Nashua. The blood drive will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Nashua Catholic Regional Junior High School, located at 6 Bartlett Ave. (near Greeley Park).

When Frankie was 17 months old, he contracted Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome as a result of contact with the E-coli bacteria. Frankie was treated at Boston Children’s Hospital for nine days, during which time he received two blood transfusions along with excellent medical care which his parents, G. Frank Teas and Amy Wheeler Teas attribute to restoring his health!

In a show of gratitude and to help replenish the area’s blood supply, the Teas family has agreed to share Frankie’s story and to host a blood drive in the hopes of helping the American Red Cross save the lives of others.

Please visit the American Red Cross to set up an appointment to donate blood in Frankie’s honor. Walk-ins on the day of the drive are welcome, but, to help with scheduling, we encourage donors to use the American Red Cross Website, www.redcrossblood.org/ (enter the sponsor code FRANKIE or zip code 03064).
