Friel tournament keep kids on course; 38th annual Boys & Girls Club event draws hundreds
NASHUA – The 38th annual Friel Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua was held on Sept. 7. Held in memory of Jeanne and Phil Friel, the family has donated the use of both courses at Green Meadow Golf Club in Hudson since 1978. Two hundred and fifty golfers came out to enjoy a fun day of golf in support of the club and kids. Proceeds from the day’s event will fund youth development programs, helping the club continue its efforts toward assisting at risk youth in the Nashua area to become productive citizens in the community.
The tournament received support from Tulley Automotive Group, the Friel Family and the Demoulas Foundation. Thanks to more than 85 sponsors, the funds raised go directly to Club members.
"Tens of thousands of children have been helped by the funds from this tournament and over $3.8 million has been raised as a result of this tournament and its players over the past 38 years. These funds that we raise today help the club directly impact members by providing the opportunities to succeed academically, experience healthy lifestyles, attain good character and become active citizens," said Ryan Friel, co-chair. "We appreciate all of the companies, sponsors and golfers who have helped us to support these goals this year."
