Nashua agency receives $10K grant

NASHUA – The Caregivers in Nashua and Manchester was awarded a $10,000 grant by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation’s Healthy Food for Every Age.

The grants are awarded to nonprofits in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.

The funded programs are designed to help older adults eat better and stay connected to their communities through community garden, cooking and nutrition programs. Grants are renewable for one additional year. These new grants bring the total amount of Healthy Food Fund grants awarded in 2015-16 to more than $1.6 million.

The grant will support the Caregivers’ mobile food pantry program, combined with nutrition education and materials in Spanish. A total of 30 older adults from urban neighborhoods will receive services and a senior hunger drive is expected to yield 10,000 pounds of food for the pantry.
