Not too long ago I was sitting out on my deck talking to my two teenage sons. North Korea was in the news and so our conversation turned to nukes and the like. One of my sons said that if a nuclear blast happened close enough for you to see it, but was far enough away you could block the mushroom cloud with your thumb, that the blast itself would probably not kill you.
