Smartphone workshop

U.S. Cellular will hold a free “device workshop” from 5-7 p.m. at 375 Amherst St.

The workshop will guide attendees through all of the functions and features of Android-powered devices, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones.

Associates will answer questions and demonstrate common features such as e-mail access, Web browsing, calendar synchronization and browsing for apps.

Bankers’ annual dinner

The Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association of New Hampshire will hold its annual dinner from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Manchester Country Club. A brief business meeting to elect the 2011-12 board of governors will take place after dinner. The 2011 MBBA-NH college scholarship and the Certified Mortgage Professional awards recipient will be announced.

Cost is $55 for members and $110 for non-members.

Social responsibility discussion

Lisa Hardin Berghaus, marketing specialist for Monadnock Paper Mills, and Jack Savage, vice president of communications and outreach for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, will talk about social responsibility and natural resources from noon-1 p.m.

Application writing workshop

The NH Community Development Finance Authority will hold an application writing workshop for the Community Development Block Grant Housing and Public Facilities and Economic Development programs from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Local Government Center, 25 Triangle Park Drive.

CDBG program funds provide housing and create jobs primarily for low- and moderate-income people. Funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and administered by CDFA.

The deadline for CDBG applications for housing/public facility projects is Monday, July 25. CDBG applications for economic development are accepted year-round.
