Goodwill, bank among new plans for Amherst Plaza
AMHERST – An 18,000-square-foot Goodwill store will be the first building constructed at Amherst Plaza, a strip mall on Route 101A destroyed by fire in June 2008.
An application for a building permit was received by the town Monday, said Town Planner Sarah Marchant, and the permit is expected to be issued by mid-June, at which point construction on the Goodwill building can begin.
That building will be followed by a 2,400-square-foot bank and a 3,000-square-foot retail store, Marchant said, but she did not know the name of either.
Demolition began last week on the structures that remained at the plaza after the fire.
Marchant said the plaza is owned by Amherst AMA Realty Ventures and that its proposal for the three buildings received Planning Board approval plus septic approval for all three.
She said the proposal included “a very nice landscaping plan associated with it.”
