Several communities battle Pelham house fire

PELHAM – Flames ripped through a one-story ranch, a breezeway and garage at 13 Birch Lane on Tuesday afternoon.

First-arriving crews found portions of the front of the house on fire and reported shortly afterward that flames had gone through the roof.

Firefighters from Hudson, Litchfield, Salem and Dracut, Mass., assisted Pelham battling the fire. About a half-hour into the blaze, which broke out about 3:45 p.m., medical aid was summoned to 11 Birch Lane, reportedly for a woman who was having difficulty breathing.

The house is roughly midway down Birch Lane, in a neighborhood that lies between Bridge Street and Dutton Road close to the Massachusetts line.

Property records list the owners of 13 Birch as Michael and Paula Decelle. It’s not immediately known how many people live in the house or if anyone was home when the fire broke out.
