More brush fires Thursday, rain may be in the forecast for the weekend

For the third day in a row, fire crews were busy fighting brush fires in the area.

On Thursday afternoon, firefighters from Milford, Wilton, Francestown and Lyndeborough were all attempting to douse a brush fire on Old Temple Road West.

The Lyndeborough fire chief deemed the scene a “big brush fire.”

On Wednesday, Merrimack fire crews were called to fight several small brush fires in town.

The busiest day of the week was Tuesday, when multiple brush fires were burning in several towns at the same time. Tuesday was deemed a Class 5 fire danger day, the highest danger level for wildfires.

Thursday was a Class 4 day, meaning fires start easily from all causes and fires spread and increase in intensity rapidly.

Weather forecasts call for a chance of light rain Saturday and again early next week.
