Amherst man indicted in sex assault
NASHUA – A Hillsborough County grand jury has charged Jeff W. Hillsgrove, of Amherst, with sexually assaulting a pair of children in Milford over a series of years, dating from 2008-11.
Hillsgrove is facing multiple counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, sexual assault and indecent exposure, all felony charges, according to court documents released Thursday.
Hillsgrove was first arrested and charged with eight counts of child sexual abuse in July, 2011. Now a grand jury has handed down even more charges.
Hillsgrove, 34, of 41 Stearns Road, was initially held on $50,000 bail, but was freed when Merrimack District Court Judge Clifford Kinghorn reduced the bail to $25,000 cash, according to court documents.
Documents state that Hillsgrove’s bail was posted by Bonnie Hillsgrove, also of 41 Stearns Road.
The new charges handed down by the grand jury accuse Hillsgrove of assaulting one child multiple times on her seventh birthday in 2008.
Prosecutors say all of the assaults occurred when the children were between the ages of 6 and 11.
In total, Hillsgrove is charged with six counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, four counts of felonious sexual assault, and two counts of indecent exposure.
The most serious charges are punishable with sentences of 10 to 30 years in state prison.
They allege Hillsgrove repeatedly fondled and improperly touched the two girls, while the indecent exposure/lewdness charges allege he exposed himself to the victims.
