Nashua man facing assault charge after another man hit over head with beer bottle
A man was arrested Monday after he was accused of smashing a beer bottle over another man’s head.
Nashua police were called to a D Street address around 9:30 p.m. for a condition check after it was reported that two men were arguing, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a highly intoxicated John Sousa, 46, of 144 E. Hollis St., Nashua. Police determined that during an argument, another man’s head was cut when he was hit with a beer bottle, police said.
Sousa was charged with second-degree assault and two counts of simple assault and held without bail pending his arraignment at Nashua district court Tuesday, police said.
The Class B felony second-degree assault charge is punishable by up to seven years in prison, plus fines. The Class A misdemeanor simple assault charges are each punishable by up to a year in jail, plus fines.
