Truck takes down wire on Route 101 in Amherst, causes power outages

AMHERST – A large truck took down a wire on Route 101 on Tuesday evening, forcing a road closure and causing power outages to the north part of town.

The incident occurred in front of Meeting Place Mall, Amherst Police Sgt. Anthony Ciampoli said.

No one was hurt in the accident. Police are waiting for power crews to fix the wire. Police had Route 101 closed off from Baboosic Lake Road to Walnut Hill Road and hoped to have the area cleared up and back to normal within a couple of hours.

Souhegan High School, where people were voting for Town Meeting, still had power, Ciampoli said.
