Man, 60, arrested over walking naked in yard

MERRIMACK – Police arrested a Merrimack man this week for allegedly walking naked in his own back yard earlier in the month.

Peter Collins, 60, turned himself in to police Tuesday after officers issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of indecent exposure.

Collins, of 62 Davis Road, allegedly was seen walking without clothes in his yard Nov. 17.

Simply being naked within one’s own property does not constitute a criminal offense, but Collins did not have a fence or any barrier to conceal himself from his neighbors, according to Merrimack police Lt. Paul Trepaney.

“If you expose your genitals to someone in a way that causes alarm, that’s where there’s a charge,” Trepaney said.

Collins is scheduled to appear Jan. 4 in Merrimack District Court.
