Woman faces shoplifting, lying charges

NASHUA – A Milford woman charged with committing various thefts and frauds also lied to law enforcement about who she was, police said.

Jessica Lantagne, 34, of 344 Elm St., Milford, allegedly shoplifted $59 worth of merchandise this past Saturday from Hannaford supermarket on Coliseum Avenue, said Nashua Lt. George McCarthy.

When officers brought Lantagne to the Nashua Police Department, they found her in possession of prescription drugs that were not prescribed to her, police said.

In addition, Lantagne gave police a false name and date of birth, McCarthy said. Lantagne identified herself using documents in a purse she was carrying, which police discovered was reported stolen in Concord. McCarthy said they are looking into that matter further.

Lantagne was then charged with shoplifting, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and unsworn falsification, all misdemeanors.

In addition, police discovered a bench warrant had been issued for her arrest, as Lantagne skipped a hearing for which she was scheduled in October, McCarthy said.

She has also been accused of several criminal acts in October, including stealing a purse valued at $450 from Foodees Pizza, fraudulently using credit cards at CVS drug store on Main Street and forging a check.

For those, Lantange was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, fraudulent use of credit cards, both misdemeanors, and forgery, a felony.

Lantagne was held over the weekend on $10,000 cash or surety bail. Her arraignment was Monday.
