Jailed man faces more shoplifting charges

NASHUA – A Massachusetts man already in jail on theft charges in one local community has now been accused of shoplifting in another.

James Nassios, 39, of 1446 Varnum Ave., Lowell, was charged Thursday with shoplifting just a bit less than $1,000 worth of tools from Home Depot on Daniel Webster Highway, Nashua police said.

Store staff called police to report the incident, and officers reviewed surveillance tape to identify Nassios, said Lt. Jeffrey Bukunt.

Nassios was denied bail because he has also been charged with felony theft out of Merrimack, for which he is being held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections in Manchester on $20,000 bail.

Nassios has an upcoming probable cause hearing on the Nashua charge. A Class B felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison with a conviction.
