NASHUA – David Audet and Alison Delyani were honored as the male and female winners of the 2017 Gate City Series, and Toyota of Nashua was recognized as the title sponsor, during a Feb. 6 gathering at the dealership.

The Gate City Series encompasses five Greater Nashua road races that work to raise funds at each race that then go toward benefitting different charitable causes.

The proceeds were directed toward five charitable organizations; High Hopes Foundation, Family Promise of Greater Nashua, Vizsla Club of Central New England, Amherst Junior Women’s Club and Bridges Domestic & Sexual Violence Support.

“The races were held in June through Black Friday and Toyota has sponsored the last three years in a row now,” Jeremy Milani, a volunteer with Family Promise of Greater Nashua said.

Milani said the five races are based on a point system and 1,000 points can be earned during each of the five races for a maximum cumulative total of 5,000 possible points to be earned.

Audet finished the series with 4,287 points, while Delyani totaled 3,922.

With the algorithm used, the races end up being age graded, making for a level playing field.

“You can have someone who’s 25 competing against someone who’s 60,” Milani said.

Registration for next years Gate City Series is currently available online, and Milani said right now it’s at a discounted price.

“We’re looking forward to the sixth year,” Milani said.

With Toyota of Nashua supporting this event for a third year, many people in the Greater Nashua community are benefited as a result.

“Pretty much when we think of the organizations together, Toyota of Nashua is supporting us, benefiting at least 40,000 people, but it reaches much further than that,” Bridges Development Director Pamela Auer said.

Money raised from each race that Toyota of Nashua sponsored goes toward ensuring these organizations are able to help their clients who come from some of the most vulnerable populations.

“We are so grateful for Toyota, for their continued support, and we’re looking forward to the partnership growing,” Auer said.

“As a representative of the dealership, giving back to the community is extremely important to us and the community who supports us,” General Manager of Toyota of Nashua Zac Casey said.
