One-time curbside brush pickup on tap for Nashuans

DPW offering removal service after fierce nor’easter struck last week

NASHUA – Rather than brushing aside the citywide impact of the Oct. 29 storm, Nashua’s Division of Public Works is offering a one-time residential brush pickup service in response.

These special pickups will be made by appointment only and they’ll begin Dec. 4 and continue until all scheduled pick ups are completed or the first snow event, depending on which comes first.

Residents must call the Street Department at 589-4750 between Nov. 6 and Nov. 17 to schedule a pickup. No pickup requests made after Nov. 17 will be accepted.

After scheduling a pickup each resident may put out one truckload of brush only at their curbside for removal and when placing brush at the curb the cut end of the brush must be facing the street. Also, each piece can’t be any wider than four inches in diameter and no longer than eight feet.

The regular curbside pickup of soft yard waste ends on Dec. 1 and after it ends, residents may continue to bring soft yard waste and brush to the Four Hills Landfill located at 840 West Hollis St. For $5 residents can purchase a landfill permit.

The landfill’s regular hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. However, there will be extended hours until 4 p.m. of the Saturdays of Nov. 4, 18 and 25 for residential brush and yard waste only. Additionally, the scale closes at 3:45 p.m. on weekdays and at 12:45 p.m. on Saturdays.
