Nashua alderman qualifies for international triathlon competition

Nashua Alderman-at-Large Dan Moriarty went the distance earlier this month, clinching a spot in an international triathlon competition next year.

Moriarty, 46, competed in the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee on Aug. 9. The event combines a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike ride and 10K run.

Moriarty finished in 2 hours, 6 minutes, 56 seconds, placing 23rd overall in the 45-49 age category.

As one of the top 25 finishers in his age group, Moriarty qualified to represent Team USA in the 2015 International Triathlon Union Short Course Triathlon World Championships, which will be held in Chicago.
