The Mont Vernon School Board voted unanimously Thursday to hire John Schuttinger as Village School’s principal.

Schuttinger will begin his new role Monday, and will host a meet-and-greet at the school from 4-5:30 p.m. Mont Vernon students, parents, and staff and community members are welcome to come.

“John brings a strong elementary teaching and leadership background to Mont Vernon, and he will be a strong contributor to our SAU-wide leadership team,” Superintendent Peter Warburton said in a statement. “We are all looking forward to working with him.”

Most recently, Schuttinger was an assistant principal for Ross A. Lurgio Middle School in Bedford for seven years. Before that, he taught first through seventh grades for 11 years in the Concord School District.

Schuttinger earned a master’s degree in education administration and leadership from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in English from Notre Dame College in Manchester.
