HUDSON – Police charged a 29-year-old Massachusetts woman with drinking and driving after her pick-up truck struck the back of another vehicle near the Sagamore Bridge.

Hudson police and firefighters were called to the crash scene at the intersection of the bridge and Lowell Road at 11:44 a.m. Sunday.

They determined a 2014 Dodge Ram truck operated by Shelley Maynard, of Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, had struck the right rear corner and right side of a 2005 Nissan Sentra, which was stopped in front of the truck in traffic.

Hudson police allegedly found an open container of alcohol inside the pickup truck. They subsequently arrested Maynard on a charge of carrying the open beverage, and a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Police allege that Maynard had a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.16 after the crash, according to an announcement released by Sgt. Joseph Hoebeke.

She was being held Sunday at the police station on $140 cash bail.

Maynard and a man and woman who were inside the Nissan that was struck were evaluated by Hudson firefighters at the scene.
