A well-known Manchester restaurateur was convicted of indecent exposure and sexual assault following a two-day jury trial last week.

The jury convicted Neville Pereira, who has owned or formerly owned several restaurants throughout the state, of exposing himself to a female employee at the Rouge Grille in Manchester on June 22, 2013, and then forcing her to touch his genitals, according to Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia LaFrance.

Pereira argued at the trial that he was at another of his restaurants at the time of the assaults. Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney Michael Zaino was able to counter witness testimony about the alibi using business records, LaFrance said.

The restaurants Pereira owned or used to own include Ignite Bar and Grille, Hooked Seafood, Rouge Grille and Sizzle Bistro in Manchester, and Molly’s Tavern in New Boston and the Capital Grille in Concord, LaFrance, said.
