NASHUA – Location-based App, ping4alerts has been nominated for Mobile Application of the Year in the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council’s Technology Leadership Awards.

The app was developed by Ping4 Inc. of Nashua.

“Because Boston is recognized as a technology hub for brilliant innovation and progressive entrepreneurship being nominated by MassTLC for mobile application of the year is a great honor,” said Mark Sexton, VP of Engineering. “Ping4alerts! has made significant progress over the past two years thanks to the engineering team adding new features, making functionality improvements, and responding to customer feedback.”

Ping4alerts! is a free iOS and Android app that uses the location based technology in today’s smartphones to deliver push notifications. Using any web-based browser, an agency or organization can draw a shape on a map as small as a building or as large as the world to push a notification to mobile devices. Users are not required to provide any personally identifiable information such as a name, home or email address.

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency was the first agency to adopt the platform. It is also used by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and Nantucket. The Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Lowell Spinner, and the Harvard Square Business Association.

Ping4alerts is free to download from the App Store or Google Play.
