NASHUA – Some of the finest cuisine Nashua restaurants have to offer will be available tonight as two dozen Nashua eateries take part in the city’s annual Taste of Downtown event.

The 20th annual Taste of Downtown, “20 Years of Great Taste,” takes place from 6-8:30 p.m. Ticket holders can sample food and drink from 24 downtown restaurants, bakeries and stores.

Great American Downtown is welcoming three new participants to this year’s event: jajaBelles, the new Main Street bakery (read more about it in Thursday’s Encore); Agave Azul, another newly opened Main Street eatery, specializing in Mexican cuisine; and Cava De Vino, a wine and specialty food store in the historic Cattlemen’s Building on Canal Street.

Some of the dishes that ticket holders can expect to sample are swordfish pastrami from Surf, lamb turnovers with mango salsa from Fody’s Great American Tavern and lobster macaroni and cheese from Estabrook Grill.

Participants also can expect sidewalk performances by Queen City Soul, Dan Searl and Monument Square Brass.

Tickets are $40. They are available online at www.downtownnashua.org or at the following locations: Beckonings, 221 Main St.; Fortin Gage Fresh Flowers and Gifts, 86 W. Pearl St., Fresh of Nashua, 178 Main St.; and Scontsas Fine Jewelry and Home Decor, 169-173 Main St.

The Taste of Downtown is sponsored by The Apartments at Cotton Mill, Clocktower Place Apartments, The Lannan Co., Bellavance Beverage, Frank FM and The Telegraph.
