HOLLIS – During the Aug. 11 Hollis Selectmen’s meeting, police officer Angelo Corrado was awarded the Commendation Bar for Meritorious Service for his actions during an incident on April 6, 2013.

At about 3 a.m., Corrado was assisting in an arrest in Amherst after the male subject passed through Hollis during a pursuit. After driving off the roadway and crashing in Amherst, the subject barricaded himself inside the vehicle.

While trying to gain access to the vehicle to arrest the driver, Corrado suffered a serious hand laceration. Despite the injury, Corrado was able to take the subject into custody without further incident.

Corrado’s perseverance and dedication during that arrest was directly in keeping with the mission of the Hollis Police Department, leading to his commendation.
